My boyfriend has a theory that no Anti-virus program eliminates EVERY virus that your computer may have been affected with, therefore there is no point to paying a lot of money for one. Is this true? What are your recommendations for a quality, but well priced virus program.

Don’t ever download anything that is an executable.. mp3,divx etc are usually ok. Make sure you have an Antivirus client that has real time protection and is up to date with definitions. Run an antispyware suite as well as AV.. spybot S&D is a good free one that has a realtime protection component. Make sure that your Winzip/Winrar are the absolute latest versions as there have been vulnerabilities in various older versions of compression programs that would allow a piece of malware to infect a system just by uncompressing a file (I would personally recommend that latest version of 7-zip).

Earlier today I posted a question about malware on my macbook. I took someone’s advice and went to the apple site and downloaded this, but I hate it. I cannot figure out how to get it off my machine. It won’t let me force quit or close the application at all. I cannot drag it to the trash. How do I get it off? I have Leopard.

I got a virus on my laptop, and internet anti virus pro was installed. I didn’t want it to be, so I uninstalled it. Now it won’t go away. it was an unsafe download also. PLEASE tell me how to get rid of it!

malware is any software that is designed to cause harm, annoyance or unwanted effects to your computer malware includes:
trojans, spyware, adware, worms, rootkits to name but a few and there are many forms of these
ALWAYS have good antivirus protection i personally use and recommend Avast Home edition and threatfire they are good and free protection and i feel safe with these installed

I’ve used AVG and some viruses seem undetected when I changed to Avira. Which is the guaranteed best in terms of virus detection and removal?
